Flossie Johnson’s Cornbread Featuring cornmeal from Linney's Mill
Flossie Johnson, the former wife of NASCAR legend Junior Johnson, is famous for her cooking and authoring three cookbooks. She’s also a big fan of cornmeal from Linney’s Water Mill. Read more about Linney's Mill in Stone-Ground Goodness.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 cup of cornmeal
- 4 teaspoons of baking powder
- ¼ cup of oil
- 1 egg
Directions
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Grease 10-inch cast iron skillet with shortening. Mix all ingredients together and pour into skillet. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
